Portland was founded by partners Nico Heyns and Helenus Scholtz as a property development company, Portland Beleggings. That original business is what grew into the Portland Group of today.

Quarry Expansion
Portland Bouers acquired a 65-hectare quarry with Malmesbury Hornfels deposits on Vissershok Road, Durbanville, followed by new offices, an entrance road, and new crushers.

Readymix Launch
Three readymix concrete plants installed on-site along with a dedicated delivery fleet, the start of what's grown into facilities across Durbanville, Saldanha Bay, and Paarl.

State-of-the-art Elematic technology from Finland, the only indoor precast factory in the Western Cape, built at the Portland Quarry premises.
